Yes, AllMovie has been replaced by AllRovi. I think we're screwed. Although the content is the same, it appears a lot of it (e.g., keywords, themes, tones, moods, etc.) has been dropped. Although the page designs are similar, it seems things have been changed enough our scripts will require complete rewrites. Now I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop—these pinheads are likely to do the same thing to AllMusic. >:(  :'(

I wouldn't expect nostra to get around to this anytime soon. Even if he could, there may be further changes coming—assuming Rovi is inclined to respond to the flood of complaints this is likely to generate. There's no point trying to rewrite a script for a site that keeps changing. On the other hand, I suspect there are many of us for whom this is a major problem.

You might want to try adapting the old script to the new site. To do that, you'll probably need to refer to the old pages to understand how the script needs to change. They're still available in the Google cache, and can be found with the search: site:www.allmovie.com [Title] [Page] where "Page" is Overview (or omitted), Review, Cast, Production or Cast. Select the "Cached" link from the search results page. That's how the page in the screen shot was obtained.

Too bad that this happened.

Hopefully not, but I have a feeling that very soon the same will happen with Allmusic.

Hopefully Nostra find a way, how and what to help us However, even for those
for which this is a big problem.

I'm not an expert for this.

In AllMovie I used almost a year that I am using a lot of script, (you have up Nostra, Rick.ca and other script other authors) and original code page I may be alone Amended and do your script for AllMovie people, for a new site I have no idea how and what to do for any old script that I have.

We will see and know what to Nostra will say, when he returns back to work.

I understand. I have very little confidence I could modify my AllMovie+ script. There doesn't seem to be any point in trying. It's purpose was to get additional data the original script did not. Most of that additional information is now gone. At a glance, the only useful data left are the Synopsis and Review. I'll just have to hope nostra finds time to rewrite the original script so I can at least get those. :(

Yes, it is.
Now most of these additional information is no longer there, damage, However, the future may be just what the change for the better.

But it is also any better information, say in Releaes as soon as possible, it is true as well that the information is now more deficient than before, this is particularly true for People information.

End of an era? They refer to 'deep content' on their website... as you guys have said, it seems a lot has actually been culled. It's still in the transition phase, so I expect a number of changes are still to come. Hopefully for better :P

I find it difficult to be hopeful. This isn't a redesign. It's a clean break, and their just using their existing data in the new website. I suspect they see no marketing or financial benefit in providing the data we miss, so requests to add it are probably falling on deaf ears. It would make sense for them to provide the data so it could be used in an advance search engine that allowed filtering on things like mood, theme, runtime, director's eye colour, etc., but these guys have never shown any sign of being progressive. While the AMG sites had some good data, their mechanics seemed rather crude (e.g., hopeless search, slow, etc.).

Hopefully it will really just like it says on their forum that will eventually in the future, add more additional information because many users also ask for certain Additional information which were previously present at AllMovie.com.

Rick.ca here is the answer to your question with AllMusic.com.

The timeline for switching over AllMusic to AllRovi is not yet pinned down. It will happen at some point this year, but we'd like to get some additional features in place first. We'll be using the feedback from this forum to continue to make tweaks and improvements

Here are All topics for AllRovi and answers and someone will be found additional information concerning the AllRovi.com

For lovers of old and good AllMovie.com, here is something that will keep you happy. At the forum AllRovi is written this Link to old-school allmovie.com which examined the work, an example of links below.

http://test.allmovie.com/work/chisum-9401
http://test.allmovie.com/search/all/chisum
http://test.allmovie.com/work/wtc-the-first-24-hours-262588
http://test.allmovie.com/work/911-265838
http://test.allmovie.com/work/judy-garland-songs-for-america-255916
http://test.allmovie.com/artist/judy-garland-25962
http://test.allmovie.com/work/rio-grande-41473

I have not yet tested an AllMovie script how to work with the new url.
When I did the tests will be reported to how and what works AllMovie script.

Rick.ca, this one probably will be very pleasant news for you.

This is not work anymore.

AllMovie script with a new URL works.

When I changed the url from http://www.allmovie.com in such http://test.allmovie.com

Important notice about this is that here the url begin as follows
http://test.allmovie.com/ ..... or like this test.allmovie.com /....

However, work.

Here is the original AllMovie script called AllMovie_new , not to replace the original. Only I changed the url.

This is not work anymore.

I'm sure this was just the result of a user discovering a test site Rovi had no intention of making public. It's now gone—as is that user's post. It's also a safe bet your request (Link to old Allmovie.com page) to make the old site available so you can mine their data with a script will be ignored. You might get a better response if you ask them how/were you might get a subscription to use the data. It seems that's the business they're in.

Rick.ca, thanks again for the tip.

I got a concrete answer to the question in the topic Link to old Allmovie.com page and where it is possible to get more information about the former AllMovie.com, only a login and follow the instructions to what should be done.

It is necessary to carefully follow the instructions to avoid disadvantages such as inconvenience in my case and there nice description.

BTW:For help, contact me through personal messages when using this topic for some reason, which may not be or get in public.

They're still available in the Google cache, and can be found with the search:  site:www.allmovie.com [Title] [Page] where "Page" is Overview (or omitted), Review, Cast, Production or Cast. Select the "Cached" link from the search results page. That's how the page in the screen shot was obtained.

Here's my solution.
For help, how to get directly to a Google search for: site:www.allmovie.com [Title] [Page] enclose that in Tools > Preferences > Web search add this:
This is my example and my solution:
Subject Name:   google search
Under URL:   http://www.google.si/search?hl=sl&client=firefox-a&hs=4qc&rlz=1R1MOZA_sl___SI416&biw=800&bih=407&q=site%3Awww.allmovie.com+%s%u

For others it will be necessary to modify the URL.
The easiest way you'll find if you paste in the Google search engine this one site address: site:www.allmovie.com Chill Wills, and then the URL address of a word (http://www.google.si/search?hl=sl&client=firefox-a&hs=4qc&rlz=1R1MOZA_sl___SI416&biw=800&bih=407&q=site%3Awww.allmovie.com+Chill+Wills) (Chill + Wills  - not copy) then copy the Web search.
This should work.

This seems like a ray of hope at the horizon. I have taken a look into the documentation there  and all the information from the former allmovie.com page are avaiable (moods, themes, tones ...) :D The big question is now is somebody out there with enough programming skills to build a plugin  ???

This seems like a ray of hope at the horizon.

I don't think so. They provide developers an API that will allow them to develop application that use their data. Access is limited to 5 minutes per call. The data is only available on an ongoing basis by subscription. And they don't appear to be in the business of providing subscriptions to end users.

Even if someone with a key wrote a script that would get data for their person "testing" use—5 minutes at a time—that script would only work with the API key held by the author. Providing the key to others would be a violation of the API License.
