The algorithm to determine the best time to serve the snack (based on time of day, movie length, genre and stomach-upsetting content) is the easy part. In both cases, the analysis of the audio stream to determine when the popcorn can be popped or the crunchy chips consumed—without disrupting the audibility of the movie—is more challenging. I suppose we'll just have to be satisfied collecting movies, and put-off actually watching them until these essential features are added to version 2. :'(

You mean we're supposed to watch 'em? I thought just collecting was the whole point.

Thanks for the reply.  It seems too like in New Movie Master if I click the Globe icon and go to IMDB, navigate to the exact page, then click OK it seems to fill the info(I have title in the dialog) but usually by then I'm so flustered I forget exactly what order I did things.  It would definitely be cool just to paste or take url from clipboard when you've verified the page online.  I tend to have large time lapses between uses so that hurts remembering from doing.  Just seems like I can't get going.  After a struggle of 10 minutes to get one entry I'm pretty flustered so unless the next ones pop right in on automatic I just save the 2 or 3 entries, back them up, and close it.  Seems like if one or two intuitive changes were made then snags would be easier to avoid.

I'm trying to use it more as I go along. Instead of sticking a new disc in a case then doing a bunch at a time, I try to add them directly to my DJ case as I get them.  It's just frustrating one adding one entry can be so ragged at times.  Other times they pop in. :)

Thanks for the reply.  It seems on earlier versions I could add an entry and paste in the url I got from IMDB.  Now it does nothing.  Can you tell me the correct sequence if the default search doesn't get the right one?  If I create a new entry using the '+' sign, enter a url, there's no way for it to fill in.  I seem to remember this is how I used to do it.

edit: hmm part of the trouble is I forget how I got it to do it the last time. Guess I need to keep notes.

I'm using 0.9.9.14 on Vista64

I think the most frustrating thing I'm finding using this is if I enter a title, it presents me with a bunch of selections from IMDB, if I try one, and it's not the right one, I can't get it to let go of it.  I delete the entry, go to IMDB and get the exact url of the correct film, paste it in a new entry, select "get info from IMDB" button, and it pulls up the one I just deleted again and again, even if it pulls down the correct poster.

The only way I've found to get rid of it is to restore the database from the backup, and enter everything in again from however many I did since last backup.  Then it will "forget" the entry and I can pick the correct item from the list.

There's got to be an easier way to get it to forget the first incorrect entry and replace it with the url info from IMDB.. but I can't find it.  Anyone know the answer?

It's mystical in that it's purported to exist, but hasn't been seen.  At least, not by me. Man!! What a marathon just to align a column!! Sheesh!! :)

I think I went around about this 8 or 10 months ago.  The "grid view" was before my time.  So I never got to see it.  The natural assumption would be similar to a "show grid lines" option in any list.  If this super duper alternative works I'm all for it.  :)

This is almost taking on mystical status as an article of faith.  Like, that there was a Dos 1.0 at one point.  I've never seen it though. :)

I wouldn't mind gridview, but for me, right justified ID would be just as good. Anything that gets the curve out of the movie Title stack that happens when you use "%N  %T" in title preferences.  Whichever way is easier to program.  The grid probably has the most appeal afa users go.

Nah I think what happened was an anomaly. If I get anything weird that I think can be fixed I'll be glad to provide details.  afa the other stuff goes, esp. if the programmer is writing the software for personal use, as I do with my utilities, then stuff is going to go where the author wants etc..  It's one of those things where if somebody was there in person to show you how to do something once then everything makes sense. I guess I just hate asking stupid questions like "what does the Go Button do?" because I think somebody will answer "er, it GOES!!, duh!" or something.  Doctors make the worst patients they say. :)

Rebuilding a database, by whatever means, will have no impact on the ID sequence.

That seems to be where the glitch is likely to happen so that's my concern.  Reediting by hand is a real drag.  For basic Title <=> number location any word processor with auto line numbering will do that much.  Seems like the basic function being bullet proof would be the priority.. but I guess I'm old school. :)

It's a disturbing trend I see in lots of software lately.  The developer does just about zero documentation then you wait for the Number 1 User to write a guide.  I develop software myself and it seems like a basic readme takes like 10 minutes. I don't understand the total neglect of documentation. Like I said, plain text is fine. Just some basic info would seem logical.

What's wrong with a forum is when my electric goes down with a hurricane, it comes back in a day or 2.  The Cable/internet sometimes stays down for 10 days. All the more frustrating if there's no local help file.  Likewise I'm not too thrilled with software that stops working because you can't connect to the licensing database online when the ISP is down etc..

This sounds like it could be used to "patch a hole" if there isn't another way.  Say if you
get a glitch and the ID sequence goes off by 1 from some point on.  In any case my biggest feature request that's not in the list would be any kind of Help even if only a Readme.txt with the most important info.  The program is easy to use. It's just when you are trying to recover from an error or glitch or manual mistake, then it would be nice to have some guidance from a local file.  Doesn't have to be .chm.  I can search a .txt with my text editor.  Just so the info is someplace local.
