In general: poster plugins only download images in silent mode if "Download all available images" is checked.

Just to be clear, that's not working.

Quote
It actually never did [download the first poster]. The problem here was the fact that search results always contain some posters not related to a movie the plugin is looking for.

In the case of Amazon, the first search results page (I'm assuming this is where the plugin gets the thumbnails) normally places exact matches at the top of the page, and—there only being a few of these—the rest of the results are for box, sets, collections, or related movies. So Download all available images typically gets 6 - 8 posters, only 2 - 3 of which are correct. The efficiency of Silent Mode is outweighed by the need to delete the unwanted posters. I think it would be much better if Download all available images were replaced with the option to download the first N posters on the results page. I might then use Silent Mode with that set at 2 or 3, and be very confident I would get the best available poster, without too many unwanted ones.

I noticed the extracted dll for imdb has a date modified stamp of 1/07/2009. This matches the one I am overwriting.

Sometimes clearing browser cache solves such problems.

No tried that. My work caches/proxies everything

I notice the amazon.com plugin still does nothing in Silent Mode, with or without Download all available images set. I'm expecting it to download the first poster, although I don't recall if it ever did this. What is it supposed to do?

IMDB plugin for movies, all amazon plugins and the export plugin are updated! Get new versions from the download page.

Thanks for the timely update!

Thanks, Moxley. The AllMovie posters are just thumbnail quality, but better than nothing.

If you are having a problem with IMPAwards plugin then might i suggest for the time being until nostra fixes our problem that you try the AllMovies plugin as it works but the quality is not as good as Amazon or IMPAwards.

In the meantime, you might want to try the IMPAwards plugin.

The poster situation is getting worse by the day. :(

I'm now experiencing the "HTTP1.1 503 service unavailable" error with the IMPAwards plugin, as originally reported here. This is a result of being banned by Google. If previous experience holds, this means I will be unable to use the IMPAwards plugin for about 24 hours.

The plugin executes the following search...

http://www.google.com/search?q=allintitle:+TITLE+Poster+site:www.impawards.com&filter=0

I note I can still do the equivalent Web Search...

http://www.impawards.com/googlesearch.html?cx=partner-pub-6811780361519631%3A48v46vdqqnk&cof=FORID%3A9&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=TITLE

This results in an embedded Google search which is seems unaffected by the ban. (It passed my crude test of being fed about 30 queries in about 30 seconds.) I wonder if this suggests a way the plugin might be modified to resolve this problem.

Okay, everyone. I think we've established beyond any doubt the Amazon plugin is no longer working. Now please be patient and give nostra some time to investigate and update the plugin. In the meantime, you might want to try the IMPAwards plugin. It has better quality posters than Amazon anyway.

I am having problems with all the Amazon plugins. All return a "No movie Found" error. :(

This is from the log...
(26/7/2009 10:13:50 AM) Searching posters for: John Q
(26/7/2009 10:13:51 AM) GET: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/index=dvd&field-keywords=John+Q

 Rick
I really hate being a pest but I have another problem.
After putting two hundred and eighty dvds into the database amazon.co.uk and amazon.com which I use for my poster downloads has suddenly stopped working by telling me "No Movies Found" and it is telling me this on movies a couple of days ago they both have found.Could tell me what the hell is going on
Thank You

What field are you trying to change?

Why do you think importing has anything to do with this? Even if I download to a movie in edit mode (something I wouldn't normally do), make changes and Apply Changes—everything is still there when I re-enter edit mode. Does the same thing happen with movies you have not just imported?

And now, i loose data. After i import data for movies, i completed some information, i save (Apply Changes). When i edit again, the info is gone...

In addition to the IMDb plugin no longer getting posters (my previous post), the Amazon plugin is now returning the "No movies" error message. The URL that appears in the log seems to be correct—it produces a valid search results page with multiple posters. I doubt it's significant, but I note this URL is of the form...

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/index=dvd&field-keywords=Casablanca

whereas the form created by searching from the site is...

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_?url=search-alias%3Ddvd&field-keywords=casablanca&x=16&y=15
