Yes, I see what you mean. Changing the Translated name can cause strange results, including broken links and deletion of people records. It may have something to do with the name not being unique (e.g., your "*" and "+"). I could not cause the same errors by adding or deleting a unique name.
I don't think the problem is with your database. I can cause the same errors in my database.
I don't use Translated name, so I'm not sure what its intended purpose is, how it should behave, or how it behaved in the previous version. It behaves sort of like it's indexed on it's own, rather than in relation to to Name, so maybe that's why changing it to the same value as another record or deleting causes problems.
