You can't open the backed up database, use the "restore" function instead.

Shame on me....thx for pointing this out!

I have a similiar problem. I use 1.0.2.7

I made several backups with the same version over the last two days to try some things.
Today I wanted to revert to the old DB. It tells me, it is not valid. I tried with any of the backups, none worked.
I also deleted the pvdconfig, does not help.

Only a new database can be opened again.

Please help me, dozens of hours of work are in this DB....

I tried making a copy of the file and changing the owner. This didn't make a difference. Still seeing the same error code.

It would be great if you remember what was the version you were using before.
Do you have the same username on the newly installed system?

Thanks for the reply

I believe the version I was using before was 0.9.9.21 - I downloaded in June 2013, so whatever was the latest non-beta version at that time.

Yes, I am using the same username now as I was before

I did notice while looking at the details of the database file that it shows the owner (In the details tab) as the orphaned SID of my user account prior to the system rebuild.

I will include a screen shot...

Do I need to take ownership of the file using my current user account?

Hi guys,

To be quite honest, I am not very familiar with PVD. I have been using it for about a year for one purpose, and that is to create .XML files for use with Roksbox on my Roku devices. It's been working great until now.

I recently had a major computer issue that required a reinstallation of the OS.

I downloaded the latest version of PVD, and attempted to open my previous database file, and I am presented with the following error:

Failed to open database.
ErrorCode: 3
file C:\USERS\XXXXX\DOCUMENTS\PERSONAL VIDEO DATABASE\MOVIES.PVD is not a valid database
Connection authorization failure.
Error Code: 3

I found a thread that is quite old here:
http://www.videodb.info/forum_en/index.php/topic,1391.60.html?PHPSESSID=8ceeab0107db977f87382afab564ba24

But none of the suggestions I tried in that thread worked for me.

I am currently using PVD Version 1.0.2.7 - I don't believe this is the version I was running prior to the OS reload, it looks different

I have a screen shot of the error message I am receiving when I attempt to open the database. I also have the database file itself and the latest .XML file I exported for my Roksbox as well, if that can be of assistance in correcting my issue. XML and screen shot are attached. Database is too big.

I'd like to get my database up and running, or if there is a way to re-create the database using the exported XML file, that would work too. I don't see any way to import from an XML file, only the ability to export to XML.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated!
