Minor tweaking is not too difficult, but the learning curve for building a skin from scratch is rather steep. The fact so few users post skins or ask questions suggests not many are even trying.
As a starting point, I would suggest a brief overview of how the whole system works, plus a comprehensive listing of all the commands available, their syntax and where they can be used. Some instruction as to the necessary structure would be helpful as well. Not being a programmer, I'm easily confused about how to structure rows and columns to get the result I want.
With such technical documentation in place, users could help by providing instructions an examples for how to do specific things.

I wanted to add, near the video codec, the audio codec and the number of channel of the first stream but i failed.
A good idea to make all graphically better is to associate a picture to the codec.
Some other idea is:
To use the fields more than once
To use all the fields justify left center right
