Import-export of single files
« on: December 29, 2011, 09:37:32 pm »
Your software is great.
Thank you many times and sorry if somebody already asked for what I'm about to suggest, I did'nt find such a request in the forum.

Why not turn it into a standard by adding  export-import files of single movies?

For example with a “.nos” (for “nostra” :D) extension.  A Double click on such a file and hop! The movie is in our database. These file could became a standard, being imbedded in mkv files, joined with whatever movie shared in the internet or having websites dedicated to them usw.
I’m certain you can see the potential.

There is always something wrong or missing with all internet databases.
When you have created a poster (if the film was only issued in DVD) or a cover if the movie is not yet disponible in DVD, when you have  the main actors displayed in the right order (not always the case with imdb) with accurate photos and date of birth, at least 6 screenshots with the right resolution and images that make sense, and whatever mention translated  in the right language (in my case French), I doubt not some other users would be grateful not having to go through the same trouble.

By the way, import from allociné (which has a dedicaded API that should make things easier) would be a great addition for French users. Regarding this API, I join files I could get a while ago that might help. (I could make it work to retreive data with excel and VBA). The first one was originally a .php I renamed in txt due to the format limitations regarding files types attachment).

Best regards

It is a good Idea, in principle. I am not really sure if there is no file format already fully established for such needs (need to investigate this topic a bit).

Wit the copy and paste functionality from version 1.0.2 it is very easy to add such a thing, so I most probably will.

I have no time for this right now, maybe after release of a stable version 1.x
