First suggestions - about Posters
« on: October 02, 2010, 01:31:21 pm »
This is my first post, and a big thank you is due for this magnificent piece of software that Personal Video Database is. Thank you to everybody involved with the project!

After my first experiments with PVC, the first suggestions came to mind:

- It would be great to have a poster import plugin that searches and import posters from google images. I collect mainly old classics and film noir, and I prefer to use the original film lobby poster, and sometimes the only place you can find the original lobby poster is in google images.

- It also would be great to be able to copy and paste an image directly into the film view pane as the poster. And/Or drag and drop an image directly from a browser or other program to the film view pane.

Not exactly what you are asking but you can set up a custom web search in PVD, have a look at

For the kind of search you want to do, Web search is the appropriate tool. The main reason for that is you're generally going to need all the search and selection tools offered by the source (whether it's Google Images, or something else).

The ability to cut & paste images directly into image containers is planned for version 1.
