Actor roles disappears
« on: December 09, 2009, 05:32:36 pm »
When the roles of the actors of a movie are filled in, all the roles (for all actors, for that movie) disappears when the actor field of that movie is mutated (e.g. when an actor is added).

Cheers

I can't image why this could happen. Could you provide a detailed step by step description how to reproduce the problem?
Gentlemen, you can’t fight in here! This is the War Room!

I use PVD Version 0.9.9.14 on the Windows XP Professional SP2 OS.

Then I add a movie, with an actor.

Then I fill in the role of the actor in the movie.

Then I add another actor in the movie.

When I look at the first actor the role is gone

I import many actors and there roles of a movie via IMDB, but sometimes I want to add an actor to that movie, so all roles disappears and I must fill in all the roles by hand.

I suspect you didn't refresh the movie record before adding the second actor. Note the role was missing at the time you added the second actor (third screen shot). Had it been refreshed, it would have shown, "Johnny Depp ... Jack Sparrow." When you updated the movie with the role missing, the role was removed from the filmography.

When adding actors in this circumstance, you might find it easier to enter them directly into the move record as "Actor ... Role." You can then add more information or update the actor's record—or just leave it as is.
