Hi,

I have scanned my drives and there are some movies that will not import.

How can I get them into PVD?

Tools scan folders.

It searches my HD then askes if I want to add any of the ones it lists.

It has never found the folder that I am asking about.

Also I have a problem with PVD import in MC it keeps crashing.

Any help is much appreciated.

You have to select the folders it's to search. A dialog for doing so appears when you select Scan folders...

Hello,

Everything is now progressing nicely.

Just one thing.

After the initial import from the internet I have taken of the silent mode to get the ones it missed.

If I select all and search again does the program re download what I already have?

Do I have to go and select the one I want information for?

Yes. Note that IMDb entries do change over time, especially for newer movies, so it's necessary to update the data you "already have" periodically.

Filters, Search and Advanced search can be used to restrict movies to those needing updates. For example, use Filters - No posters to restrict the list to those needing a poster. Search for something like "Genre IS NULL" to find movies for which data has not yet been downloaded from IMDb. Perhaps easier—group by Genre so those without a genre are grouped together in "undefined." Once the list has been restricted to records in need of update, you can just select them all and run the appropriate plugin.

I have got 200 Movies that are not getting anything unless I take off silent mode.

I am thinking maybe I have updated the wrong plug ins??

If you are getting information, but only when not it Silent Mode, it's because the name you have is ambiguous and it needs you to choose the correct movie. It's exactly the same as if you searched for the same title from the IMDb website. If the search results in more than one hit, you're presented with a search results page from which you have to select the movie you're interested in.

Hi sorry I am back again.

I have a folder on my hard drive that contains 4 movies.

When I scan that folder it does not bring up the files just the folder title??

How can I get the program to see the files.

It depends on how the files in the folder are named. You need to have PVD set up correctly for all the file naming formats your are using in Tools -> Preferences -> File Scanner

Hello and thanks for you reply.

They are avi and that is already nominated in the search.

The odd thing is I have some movies in other folders that it has brought in the individual avi but the folder that I am talking about just lists as one.

Maybe my only solution is to take them out of the folder scan them and then put them back.

The scanner won't work miracles. You'll have to change your file/pathnames so it can understand them, or revise the regex in the scanner configuration so they will be recognized. Please see this post for more information.

The simplest solution is to change the pathnames to V:\Movies\[Title] ([Year]).avi. Including the year with the (correct) title will normally ensure a successful IMDb search.

I think that we may have gotten a bit lost here.

What I am asking is when I scan my Hard Drives the program is not bringing in some of my movies that are in folders.

The odd thing is some have but not all of them.

Please take the time to consider the answer I've already provided.

The default default scanner configuration includes the regex (?i)^.*\\(?P<title>.*)\\.{0,2}\..{3,4}. Loosely translated... if the filename begins with 0-2 of any character followed by a "." and then 3-4 of any character, the parent directory name will be identified as a title. So...

V:\Movies\Dirty Harry Movies\03.The Enforcer.avi
V:\Movies\Dirty Harry Movies\04.Sudden Impact.avi
V:\Movies\Dirty Harry Movies\05.Dead Pool.avi

...are the three parts to the movie title "Dirty Harry Movies." This will also match episodes named in this fashion, matching them all to one series. Organize files by episode would then be used to match them to episode records for that series. It's preferable, however, that episode names include some variant of "S00.E00" to specify season and episode numbers. Then they will be matched directly to the correct episode record.

If you don't want filenames of this pattern to be recognized as such, delete that regex (and hope you never have to accommodate multi-part movies or episodes named in this fashion) or remove the numbers from the filenames (which don't seem to serve any useful purpose anyway).
